What Is Email Deliverability?
Email deliverability is the ability to reliably land emails in recipients’ inboxes rather than spam folders or being blocked entirely. It depends on sender reputation, authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), list quality, content, and consistent sending behavior across mailbox providers.
Deliverability is an outcome, not a single setting. Mailbox providers weigh dozens of signals — how many recipients open and reply, how many mark you as spam, whether your authentication passes, whether your IP or domain appears on blacklists, and how steady your volume is — to decide inbox versus spam versus block.
The biggest levers are reputation and engagement. A domain that consistently gets opens and replies and keeps complaints below 0.1% builds trust; one that triggers spam complaints or hits spam traps loses it fast. Authentication is table stakes: without valid SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, many providers will not even give you a fair chance.
Because reputation is provider-specific and decays over time, deliverability is an ongoing discipline: warm up new domains, monitor placement, fix authentication, prune bad addresses, and pace your sending.
MailPilot combines warmup, real inbox placement monitoring, and SPF/DKIM/DMARC health checks in one place, so every lever of deliverability is visible and fixable from a single dashboard.
